Give Feedback about Platform Products or Services

This page will help you understand what kind of feedback you can provide to the Platform, what the process entails, and how this feedback will be used.

What is this?

The Platform is expanding how it collects input from VFS team members (people using Platform products or services in their work), in an effort to get the most current and detailed perspectives possible. We are adding a new, always-available Platform Feedback mechanism for collecting specific feedback whenever it’s convenient for VFS team members, such as when they’re actually experiencing a problem. 

WHAT’S THE DEAL BETWEEN THIS AND THE PLATFORM SATISFACTION SURVEY? DON’T WE ALREADY DO THAT?

Good question! The Platform Satisfaction Survey will continue on a quarterly schedule, allowing us to learn how VFS team members rate general Platform areas. However, the new Platform Feedback survey in Slack is intended to give VFS team members a place to speak about an issue specifically. In addition, it will remain open at all times, not just once a quarter.

How the new Platform Feedback Process adds a way to give immediate feedback in Slack

The new Platform Feedback survey in Slack allows VFS team members to directly provide information about issues with Platform products and services as they encounter them, which in turn allows Platform to rapidly learn about the most problematic issues to address. They’re encouraged to share any pain points, frustrations, compliments, and suggestions. This helps the Platform know what’s not working and how to prioritize improving their work environment.

How to give feedback in Slack

From bookmark in #vfs-platform-support

  1. Navigate to the #vfs-platform-support channel in Slack and find the Platform Feedback bookmark (see images below). You may not be able to see this part of Slack if your Slack window is too narrow, so widen your Slack window if you need to.

  2. Click on the bookmark, which will open the survey in Slack.

  3. Fill the survey out and submit!

For power users! From within any channel

Simply start typing “/platformfeedback” and then click on the Platform Feedback workflow highlight when it appears.

This will summon the same feedback form without you having to leave the channel you’re currently using.

Why might VFS team members want to give feedback about the Platform?

By giving this feedback about issues as they encounter them, they help us uncover blockers. These might be:

  • A specific process is slow, flawed, or they’d like to see it improve in some specific way.

  • They encountered documentation that needs to be updated.

  • They’re not seeing or not getting the help they need to understand something.

  • They can’t locate a resource.

Who will see this information?

The collected data from submissions will be analyzed and synthesized by the Platform’s Service Design Team (SDT). The aggregated data will be presented to Platform leadership and Platform teams to measure progress and guide improvements.
